1SG (Ret.) Alvin Glenn Scott, Sr., 92, of Columbus, GA passed away on Monday, March 30, 2020 at the Columbus Hospice House. A service with full military honors will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery at a later date, according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Columbus.
Alvin was born on June 7, 1927 in Sparta, Illinois to the late Burwell and Estelle Scott. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for over 25 years, retiring with the rank of First Sergeant. During this time, Alvin was a part of World War II and the Korean War, as well as completing two tours in Vietnam. His successful and distinguished military career was only part of his legacy. Alvin was a dedicated husband and father who, without a doubt, loved and cared for his family. He will be greatly missed and will always be remembered with the fondest of memories.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of almost 60 years, Christa Scott; sons, Walter Scott of Atlanta, GA and Alvin G. Scott, Jr. (Marguerite) of Phenix City, AL.
