Alexis V. Nitchman, 68, of Hurtsboro, AL, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2015, at her home. Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm CDT (4:00EDT), on Friday, May 29, 2015, and the family will receive friends one hour before the service at the Hurtsboro United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Hurtsboro City Cemetery. Mrs. Nitchman was born on April 25, 1947, in Pittsburg, PA to Anna Hayden Vignovic and the late Walter Vuchklvich. Alexis met her husband Alan in college at Slippery Rock University and forged a love that lasted 49 years. Her selfless and supportive nature was based on her love and devotion to God. She was truly an inspiration to all. She is survived by her husband Alan Nitchman of Hurtsboro, AL; mother, Anna Vignovic of Greenville, SC; daughters, Nicole Herzog (Derek) of Smith Station, AL; Tara Johannesen (John) of Barrington Hills, IL; Alexis Crumb (Nathan) of Aurora, CO; sisters, Ellene Lucas (Bill) of Cleveland, OH and Tamera Pirraglia (John) of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Alexander, Eli and Avery Herzog, Jorgen and Christian Johannesen, and Kadia and Alexa Crumb; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and numerous beloved friends across the United States. Alexis had a great love for the work done by St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hurtsboro UMC in her memory.
