Alice "Joyce" Cotton

Alice “Joyce” Cotton, 93, of Phenix City, AL, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, April 9, 2024, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am EDT on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Evangel Church, 5350 Veterans Pkwy, Columbus, GA, with Rev. Paul Thomas and Rev. Bud Rupel officiating.  Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens in Phenix City.   The family will receive friends at the church on Friday morning, one hour prior to the service.  Jon Hester, Brandon Hester, Paul Stamp, Mike Jackson, Jody Gurley, and Jeff Sheppard will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Cotton, born June 4, 1930, in Phenix City, AL, was a beacon of love and devotion to her family. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, and spending as much time with her family as possible. As a Pastor’s Wife, she found joy in fellowship with her Church family, and her love extended to all who knew her. She was a Godly woman and a lady of great character, a testament to her deep-rooted faith.  She was a proud member of Evangel Church in Columbus, GA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Seth Ben Cotton, Jr. Two daughters survive her, Debra Cotton Spikes of Macon, GA, and Denise Cotton Hester (Eddie) of Phenix City, AL; sister, Shirley Sanders of Phenix City, AL; four grandchildren, Brian Spikes, Jonathan Hester (Gina), Brandon Hester (Tiffany), and Lindsey Gurley (Jody); ten great-grandchildren, Madison Hester, Karsyn Hester, Laura Leigh Hester, Dylan Hester, Jaylen Hester, Lucy Gurley, Sadie Gurley, Finnley Hester, Jaxon Hester, and Henry Gurley; several nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and many caring friends.
