Alice Taylor Ouzts, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Columbus Hospice House surrounded by her loving family. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home beginning at 1:00 with Rev. Mike Reeves officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. EST, at the funeral home.
Alice was born on January 6, 1937 in Lee County, AL to the late O.T. Taylor and Margaret Hood Taylor Raybon. A graduate from Jordan High School class of 1955 she went on to work in the medical field at the old Cobb Memorial Hospital then with Dr. Carter Baldwin. Determined and hardworking she left Dr. Baldwin's practice to work beside her husband Larry. Together they built a thriving business Metro Ltd. Limo Svc. She always found time to enjoy her favorite baseball team the Atlanta Braves and making crafts.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Larry Elbert Ouzts; son Jeffrey Lynn Bendel; sister, Rebecca Sprayberry; sister, Mara Gillen; great granddaughter Jaleigha Waldon; brother in laws, Leroy “Bill” Gillen and Harold Dennis Ouzts.
Survivors include her two children, Cheryl Ouzts Ritch and Chris Ouzts both of Columbus, GA; sister, Virginia Bates (David) of Shreveport, LA; brother Charles “Ted” and Kay Taylor of Phenix City, AL; four grandchildren, Jennifer Crawford (Corey) of Columbus, GA; Jeffrey Tanner Ritch of Columbus, GA; Jarrod Ouzts of St. Charles, MO; Tyler Obermeier of St. Charles MO; and three great grandchildren, Dezare, Isaiah and Cori.
Alice was a loving and caring person who gave her time selflessly. Her greatest joy in life was her family whom she devoted herself to, she will be dearly missed. Flowers are welcomed by the family or donations can be made to Columbus Hospice. The family wants to thank Columbus Hospice for all the wonderful care they gave Mrs. Ouzts.
