Alyssa Craw

Alyssa Craw, age 35, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown, Columbus, Georgia. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia on Saturday, September 30, 2023, 1 p.m., with Reverend David Frazier officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, September 29, 2023 from 5-7 p.m.

Miss Craw, daughter of Arletta Elaine Merklin Craw and Andy Lynn Craw, was born December 15, 1987 in Frankfurt, Germany. She was a Customer Service Representative with ANTHEM (formerly Blue Cross and Blue Shield) for many years. Miss Craw graduated from Shaw High School in 2006 and was a member of their JROTC Program. She was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and enjoyed watching On-Patrol and NCIS on television. Miss Craw always looked forward to taking trips to the beach and hanging around the pool, but her biggest enjoyment was watching her sons play baseball and spending quality time with them. The family remembers her as her children’s mother; one who would never give up.

Miss Craw was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, David and Arlene Merklin and her paternal grandfather, Robert Lee Craw. She is survived by her mother, Arletta Merklin and Darin Edwards of Smiths Station, Alabama; father, Andy L. Craw and his wife Vickie of Columbus; three sons, John Robert “Trey” Cook III, Aiden Bryce Cook, and Axl Lee Craw, all of Phenix City, Alabama; one sister, Ashlan Craw of Columbus; one brother, Austin Craw and his wife Ashaneik of Clarksburg, Maryland; fathers of her children, John Cook, Jr. and Joshua Guthrie; special people in Alyssa’s life, Robert Cook and Sheila Cook; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
