Angela Rose Hudson Rhodes-Jones-Wilson

Angela Rose Hudson Rhodes-Jones-Wilson, 72 of Columbus, GA entered Heavens Gates on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

A Celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 PM (EST) on Saturday, August 3, 2024 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Pastor Jeremy Johnson officiating. A private interment will be at Parkhill Cemetery, Columbus, GA. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour at the funeral home. The family is requesting that guests wear their favorite Auburn shirt, Elvis tee shirt or a Smiley Face shirt in her memory. 

Mrs. Wilson was born October 18, 1951 in Auburn, AL ( on the Auburn Campus) to the late Billy Ray Hudson and Nora Dillard Hudson. She was a kindergarten Teacher at Sherwood Elementary for many years. Ms. Angela knew at the age of nine years old when asked to teach a Sunday School Class that teaching was her calling in life. Her room was always decorated with smiley faces and happy themes. 

Ms. Angela came to know Christ as her personal Savior at the age of seven years old and was faithful to the Lord until she was called home. She lived out her faith daily as was expressed by her constant smile and angelic glow. She was an active member of Kirkland Baptist Church in Columbus, GA where she sang in the choir, taught at VBS and Sunday School. 

She was a passionate Auburn Fan, loved Elvis and anything with a happy “Smiley” face on it. Her favorite color was pink so a pink shirt with a smiley face was a win-win for her. 

She will be missed by our family and the people she knew best, but we know she laid a solid foundation for not only our family but, the children she impacted over her dedicated years of teaching. Thank you for the great memories.

Mrs. Wilson was married to the late Jerry Wayne Wilson. 

Survivors include her three daughters, Melissa Gibson (Horace), Melinda Boyett (Chris) and Milene Joyce (Richie); five step-sons, Billy Jones, Brent Dorton, Jay Wilson, Jaylin Brooks and Brad Pearson; one stepdaughter, Sheree Tolbert (Ty); two sisters, Sheryl Patterson (Danny) and Melanie Willard (Ronny); nine grandchildren, Hannah Peavy, Emmaleigh Peavy (Hayden Cooper), Grace Gibson, Rebekah Faircloth (Andrew), Shelbey Pearson (Austin Stewart), Cole Pearson, Tyler (Jennifer), Trenton, Trae Tolbert; eight great-grandchildren, Travis, Jackson and Bella Peavy, Alissa Cooper, Mason, Madison Rose and Maddex Cooper and Hunter Stewart; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
