Annie “Ann” Glynn Grimes Horton

Annie “Ann” Glynn Grimes Horton, 80, of Smiths Station, AL passed away peacefully early Friday morning, April 23, 2021 in the comfort of her home while surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm EST on Monday, April 26, 2021 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Reverend Doug Casey officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons along with an honorary pallbearer, Danny L. Hartin.
Mrs. Horton was born July 28, 1940 in Banks, AL, daughter of the late Jim O. Grimes and Louise Griswold Grimes. Ann enjoyed creating memories at family gatherings, especially eating and spending time in the company of her family. Her family was her life. Mrs. Horton loved the outdoors; taking care of her yard and feeding the many birds that came around and taking care of her plants. Her pet dogs were also a big part of her life, and as a sports fan, you would find her watching a Braves game or Alabama football game. She was a Christian by faith. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Ermon “EW” Horton, a daughter, Theresa Ann Horton Green, (3) siblings, Merle Beauchamp, Jimmy Grimes, and Sandra Craddock, and one great grandson, Marvel Justice Horton.
She is survived by three children, Kenneth Horton of Smiths Station, AL, Greg Horton of Phenix City, AL, and Karen Horton Lenox and husband Kean of Lexington, KY, two sisters, Sharon Morris of Smiths Station, AL, Brenda Ables and husband Larry of Phenix City, AL, and one brother, Don Grimes and wife Glenda of Phenix City, AL, (7) grandchildren, Danielle Maddox (Zeb), Jamon Horton (Erika), Amanda Solohub (Mark), Kenneth Horton, Jr., Greg Horton, Jr. (Janet), Jonathan Adam Horton, and Darby Lenox, (8) great Grandchildren, Lily, Harrison, Brennon, Ethan, Tre’, Noah, Alex, and Zayne, one great great grandson on the way, (Ezra), numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many caring friends.
