Arnold Joseph Williams

Arnold Joseph Williams, 84, of Phenix City, AL, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Columbus Hospice in Columbus, GA.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Vance Memorial Chapel with Rev. Rob Goodman officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Vance Memorial Chapel. Serving as pallbearers Dwight Graham, Jr., Ricky Deason, Ken Williams, Lamar Luster, Fredie Williams and Bobby Gaston. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Mobley, Jerry Buckelew, Mike Williams.

Mr. Williams was born January 24, 1933 in Clay County, AL, son of the late Grover Cleveland Williams, Sr. and Mary Effie McDaniel Williams.  He served his country in the United States Marine Corp.  Mr. Williams retired from Mutual Savings Life Insurance Company after 29 years.  He loved hunting and fishing.

Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Gary Lane Williams; two sisters, Gloyce Dudley and Jewel Burdick and three brothers, Grover C. Williams, Jr., Fredrick Williams and Leroy Williams.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Doris Williams; two daughters, Sherry Yon and husband Larry of Acworth, GA and Shelia Suber and husband Mike of Phenix City, AL; one brother, Donald Williams of Pell City, AL; grandchildren, Mandy Kyser, husband Jeff, Steven Yon, wife Brianna; five great grandchildren, Allie Kyser, Cooper Yon, Brileigh Yon, Mason Jeans and Bryson Jeans; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
