Arthur Leon Swanson

Arthur Leon Swanson, 72, of Phenix City, AL, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014 in Columbus, GA. Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm EDT Monday, September 15, 2014 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Rev. Bob Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at Vance Memorial Chapel on Monday. Mr. Swanson was born March 14, 1942 in Warm Springs, GA to the late Orville Swanson and Lena Mae Newman Swanson. He worked as a mechanic for Robinson Paving for many years. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Sarah Swanson; children, Arthur DeWayne Swanson, Edward Lamar Swanson and Shelby Jean Swanson Collins; siblings, Thelma Castle, Shirley Payne, Marie Steinsberg, Ricky Long, Katie Long and Rebecca Wyatt; grandchildren, Travis Ray Collins, Kevin Eugene Collins and Kimberly Rena Collins Crisp; great-grandchildren, Seth, Dylan, Kaylie, Kavin, Chloe, William and Madeline; numerous other loving family members and many caring friends.
