Barbara Ann Russell

 Barbara Ann Barnes Russell, 80, of Phenix City, AL passed away early Friday morning, January 29, 2016 at McAllen Medical Center in McAllen, TX. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm EST Friday, February 5, 2016 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with her son, Rev. Michael Glenn Russell and Dr. Aaron Baldridge officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at the funeral home. She was retired as a supervisor for the Decatur Illinois Public Transit System, she enjoyed quilting, was a member of the Central Activities Center, and enjoyed working four months of the year at the Children’s Home in Mexico and Bible College in Texas. She was a past, long-time member of the Decatur, IL First Free Will Baptist Church and a member of Calvary Free Will Baptist Church of Columbus, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 ½ years, Mitchell Thomas Russell, three sisters, Nora Kathalyn Barnes Stinson, Laura Darlene Barnes Cunningham, and Mildred Yvonne Barnes and a brother, William Ennis Barnes. She is survived by her children, Rev. Michael Glenn Russell and wife Sharon of Mascoutah, IL, Yvonne Dennette Russell Bender of Suwanee, GA, Gregory Thomas Russell of Smiths Station, AL, Brian Keith Russell of Columbus, GA, and Timothy Scott Russell and wife Teresa of Champaign, IL; brothers and sisters, Mary Alice Barnes Workman, Marilyn Jeanine Barnes Bower, Aubrey Wayne Barnes(Mary), Sharon Kay Barnes, Lydia Sue Barnes Kramer(Earl), Gloria Irene Barnes, Kenneth Marshall Barnes, sister-in-law, Rita Barnes. Grandchildren, Emily Beever (Jim), Jonathan Russell (Brittany), Jessica Busch (Ryan) Brittany Deanne Russell, David Russell, Katelyn Bender, Sarah Beth Russell, Hannah Russell, Colton Russell, and Keegan Russell, (6) great grandchildren, numerous other loving family members and many friends. In lieu of Flowers, the family requests contributions to the American Cancer Society or Calvary Free Will Baptist Church in Columbus, GA in memory of Mrs. Barbara Ann Russell.
