Ms. Barbara Berry Barker, 82, a resident of Smiths Station, Alabama, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2022, at Phenix City Health Care.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM EST on Monday, June 13th, 2022, in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, with Dr. Wayne Scarborough officiating.
Ms. Barker was born in LaFayette, Alabama, the daughter of the late Forest Berry and Lillie Ozley Berry. She was member of Auburn Heights Baptist Church for many years. Prior to her retirement, Ms. Barker was employed by Sunshine Biscuit as a Human Resource Manager. Barbara was a die-hard Alabama Crimson Tide football fan and an avid NASCAR fan. She was a long-time member of the Phenix City Activities Center Senior Group. She loved traveling all over the United States and watching/ordering from QVC. Ms. Barker always enjoyed manicures/pedicures, junk food, especially McDonald’s sweet tea and a cold coca-cola.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Barker she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Franklin Thomas Barker, sister Judy Williams and two nieces Lori Williams Minchew and Macy Williams Stacy.
Left to cherish her memory are one great niece Ashley Minchew of Waycross, GA; two great nephews Jake Minchew of St. Marys, GA and Baylor Stacy of Albany, GA; special adopted children Jim and Christy Cook of Columbus, GA; special adopted grandchildren Sydney Cook, Avery Cook and Josiah Cook all of Columbus, GA; and numerous friends.
A special Thank You to the congregation of Auburn Heights Baptist Church, Columbus Hospice and Phenix City Health Care for their care and devotion during this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions be made to Auburn Heights Baptist Church in honor of Ms. Barker.
