Bedie C. Rhodes

Bedie Counts Rhodes, 93, of Southport, NC and formally of Columbus, GA passed away Friday night at Dosher Memorial Hospital in Southport, NC on September 22, 2023.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 2, 2023, at 12:00 pm EDT at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Rev. Ricky Ward officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband, MSG (Ret) Walter D. Rhodes.
Ms. Rhodes was born April 4, 1930, in Mt. Pleasant, TX, daughter of the late Arthur Jefferson Counts and Estle Marshall Counts. She served as a dental assistant with the Civil Service at Fort Benning, retiring after many years of loyal service. After her retirement, she became a travel agent fulfilling a life-long dream of travel. She was a Christian and a member of the Church of God. A simple lady of great character who loved adventure and living life to the fullest. She loved music and dancing, riding motorcycles and going fishing. While these activities gave her joy, her greatest love was her family. She was always arranging reunions so everyone could be together.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, MSG (Ret) Walter D. Rhodes, son, David Wayne Rhodes and brother, Kenneth T. Counts.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, John Thomas “Dusty” Rhodes and wife Jasomine “Jessie” of Southport, NC and Deborah Lynn Barth and husband Paul; one grandson, Shaun Rhodes of Florida; nieces, Carol Sue Lamb and family of Grayson, GA, and Linda Ruth Goodmiller and family of Colorado; nephew, Clyde Thompson and family of Colorado; cousins in Oklahoma and Texas and other loving family and friends.
