Bennie Lou Faulk Oakes Ward

Bennie Lou Faulk Oakes Ward, 83, of Phenix City, AL passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 surrounded by her family at her home.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am EST, on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Vance Memorial Chapel with visitation from 10 until 11 before the service.  Interment will follow at Ramah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Josie, AL at 3:00 pm EST. Active pallbearers will be; Ronald (Little Ronnie) Oakes, Dan Kennefick, Hank Oakes, Mike Shelly, Eddy Keeter and Ronnie Hudson.  Honorary pallbearers will be; Bill Faulk, Richard Tew, James W. Oakes, Leroy Tew, Keith Faulk and Charles Wilson.

 

Bennie Lou was born March 28, 1933 in Pike County, AL, daughter of the late William S. and Nora Senn Faulk.  Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her 1st husband and father of her children, William P. Oakes (Benny); daughter, Linda Lou Oakes; great-grandson, Coleton Brown; two brothers, Louie H. Faulk  (Buck) and Lamar Faulk; three sisters, Mavis Sanders, Lucille Tew and Doris Tew.

 

Mrs. Ward worked at Fieldcrest mills for over 33 years and was a member of Grace Freewill Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by husband, Richard K. Ward (Bud); son Ronnie Oakes and daughter Sandee Salazar (Bill); three grandchildren, Nona Adams (Brian), Lynda K. Oakes and Ronald Oakes (Little Ronnie); three great-grandchildren Billie Brown (fiancé, Stephen), Karsin Brown and Elliot Oakes; brother Wayne Faulk (Martha) and sister, Shirley Arnold (Effort); four step-children, Roger Rounsville (Lanette), Ricky Ward (Robin), Randall Wayne Ward (Patsy) and Robin Annette Hudson  (Ronnie); 9 step-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchild. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and caring friends.
