Bernice Faye Bailey

Bernice Schofield Bailey, 95, of Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, September 15, 2018 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 am EST Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at First Assembly of God Church in Phenix City with Pastor Barry Danner officiating.  Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 pm EST at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City.

Mrs. Bailey was born August 30, 1923 in Covington County, AL to the late Pearcy Schofield and Dollie Short Schofield.  She was the owner/operator of B & B Nursery in Phenix City.  She enjoyed the love of her family and all the special times and memories they shared, and especially spending quality time with all her grandchildren.  She loved her church family and was a longtime member of First Assembly of God Church.  Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Calvin James Bailey, six sisters, Retha Olene Staley, Wilma Lee Floyd, Claudine Wladen, Flora Ellen Waldrop, Vorrie Etta Donaldson, and Willie Ree Schofield, and two brothers, Otis Clayton Schofield, and Joe Harmon Schofield.

She is survived by two sons, Ronald “Ron” Bailey and wife Vicki of Phenix City, AL, and Michael J. “Mike” Bailey and wife Sandy of Opelika, AL, one sister, Odessa Weeks of Opp, AL, (6) grandchildren, Lonnie Bailey (Christie), Danielle Brant (Eric), Sean Brady (Ava), Heidi Bailey, Chris Bailey (Amy), and Jamie Bailey, (11) great grandchildren, and (2) great great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and many caring friends.
