Betty Jo Keller Colbert, 83, of Smiths Station, AL passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, January 17, 2018 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA.
A celebration of life funeral service will be held 1 pm EST Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Pastor Tim Cole officiating. A private interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Colbert was born February 11, 1934 in Alexander City, AL to the late Sumpter Floyd Keller and Allie Mae Brown Keller. She was a loving devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother whom loved her family deeply. She enjoyed sharing special times with all her family, flower gardening, and church fellowship. She was a member of Victory Tabernacle Church and longtime member of Fellowship Assembly of God Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in a son, Dennis Lamar Colbert, a brother, Floyd Keller, and two sisters, Nell Gowan, and Verlia Jean Thomason.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 64 years, Rev. Virgil Lamar Colbert, one daughter, Betty “Caren” White, two sons, Virgil “Keith” Colbert and wife Paulette, and Thomas Floyd Colbert and wife Sharon, three sisters, Edna Moore and husband Omar, Jewell Massey, and Frances McDurmont and husband Wayne, (10) grandchildren, (11) great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and many caring friends.
