Betty Joyce Vance

Betty Joyce Vance, 79, of Phenix City, AL, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2019, at Columbus Hospice in Columbus, GA.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am EST, Monday, July 8, 2019 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL with Dr.  Johnny Ellison and Dr. Ray Cummings officiating. Interment will at Lakeview Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm EST at the funeral home.

Mrs. Vance was born on January 5, 1940, in Telfair County, GA, the daughter of Henry Eligh Covington and Mary Lee Willis Covington. She retired after many years of service from Tom’s Foods.  Mrs. Vance was a great cook and loved baking cakes.  She was a long time member of  Golden Acres Baptist Church, where she was a servant.  For 28 years, Mrs. Vance and her husband were the designated cooks for all of the youth trips. 

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by several sisters, brothers and other family members.

She is survived by her loving husband, Landon Vance; four sons, Waymon Felton Horne and wife Deryl, Quinton Lamar Horne and wife Jan, Tommy Curtis Vance and wife Jenell and Stephen Russell Vance and wife Roxane; a sister, Nellie Roquemore; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; several extended family and caring friends.
