Betty Morris Wells, 86, of Salem, AL died at Phenix City Health Care, Phenix City, AL on Tuesday, November 08, 2022.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM (EST) on Monday, November 14, 2022 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Dr. David Kees officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 PM till the funeral hour at the funeral home.

Mrs. Wells was born June 28, 1936 in Etowah County, AL daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Morris and Clyde Etta Hardin Morris. She was a member of Smiths Station Baptist Church where she enjoyed worshiping and fellowshipping with family and friends. Mrs. Wells was a long time Cafeteria Manager for Smiths Station High School and Elementary School. She enjoyed making sure the students were well fed and had food they liked. Mrs. Wells enjoyed traveling with her husband, Herman, enjoying sites all over the United States. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

Mrs. Wells was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Clyde Etta Morris and her husband of 60 years, Rufus Herman Wells; two brothers, Roland “Pug” Morris, Bill Morris; son-in-law, Gene Bradshaw; daughter-in-law, Sherry Wells and a great-granddaughter, Aria Reese.

Survivors include her four children, a son Christopher Wells, Columbus, GA and three daughters, Deborah Bradshaw, Salem, AL, Lynn Gibason (Al), Cheyenne, WY, and Amy Dean (Carey), Merritt Island, FL; a sister, Barbara Gilley (Randall), Gadsden, AL and; nine grandchildren Austin Carden (Erica), Brandon Carden (Jamie), Courtney Watkins (Matt), Jackson Wells, Jordan Wells, Blake Dean (Erin), Tanner Dean, McKenna Dean, Corban Dean; eight great grandchildren, Jonah Carden, Dylan Carden, Bella Carden, Miles Carden, Braylan Carden, Wesley Carden, Isaac Watkins, Jacob Watkins, and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in her memory to Smiths Station Baptist Church, Memorial Fund, 2460 Co Rd 430, Smiths Station, AL 36877 or www.ssbaptistchurch.org.
