Betty Rose Grimes

Betty Rose Grimes, 82, of Columbus, GA passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016 at her residence in Columbus, GA.  A funeral will be held at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 beginning at 11:00 A.M. EST with Chaplain Patrick Gilbert officiating.  The services will conclude at the funeral home as there will be a private interment at Riverdale Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the funeral home from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. EST.  

Mrs. Grimes was born October 10, 1933 in Columbus, GA to the parents of the late Berta Lou Johnson McGill and Henry G. McGill.  She was a devoted mother.  She enjoyed spending time with grandchildren and family.  She was a kind and caring person, which was evidenced not only in her family, but through her professional life as well. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), who worked twenty years at Martin Army Hospital in Fort Benning, GA, providing care to those who needed.

Other than her parents, Mrs. Grimes is predeceased by three brothers:  Jabo McGill, Buddy McGill and Billy McGill; and two sisters:  Martha Wynn and Ann Morrison.

Survivors include seven children:  Karen Nolan (Herb) of Havannah, FL, Randy Grimes (Cheryl) of Columbus, GA, Sherry Moore (Bruce) of Frederick, MD, Jenny Grimes of Columbus, GA, Richard Grimes of Rincon, GA, Janis Everheart (Buddy) of Columbus, GA, and Amanda Grimes of Ducula, GA; a sister, Janie Cannon; a brother, Jackie McGill; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews as well as many loved ones and friends.
