Betty Slappey Fuller

Betty Slappey Fuller, 83, of Smiths Station, AL, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am EST, on Monday, January 19, 2015, at Vance Memorial Chapel with Reverend Grant Parker officiating. Interment will be held at Philadelphia Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6-8 pm EST.

Mrs. Fuller was born on September 5, 1931, in Girard, AL, the daughter of the late William A. Slappey and Nannie Lou Ray Slappey. She was a longtime member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and active with the Order of Eastern Star, Monroe Fuller Chapter #521 and the American Business Women's Association (ABWA). She worked as payroll administrator for over 37 years before retiring from W.C. Bradley.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years William L. “Buddy” Fuller; brothers, Calvin Slappey, William A. Slappey, Jr. and George Eugene Slappey; sisters, Willie Louise S. Moore, Mary S. Warner and Martha S. Davis.

She is survived by her daughters Brenda Fuller Reese of Smiths Station, AL, Paula Fuller Evans of Smiths Station, AL and Laura Fuller Shuffield of Ohatchee, AL; 2 sisters, Barbara S. Brown of Phenix City, AL, and Virginia S. Cannon of Phenix City, AL; 5 grandchildren, Sonya Lehman, Rhonda Clark, Dalton Evans, Wesley Shuffield, and Jason Shuffield; 3 great grandchildren, Rebecca Lehman, William Lehman, and Zachary Lehman and many extended family members and close friends.
