Betty Sue Wadkins

Betty Sue White Wadkins, 87, of Salem, AL died in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, December 14, 2023.

Graveside Services will be held at 3:00 PM (EST) on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Bud Passmore and Rev. Jarrod Horne officiating according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL. Pallbearers will be Bobby Wadkins, Jr, Tyler Wadkins, Austin Clark, Cecil Mitchell, Kevin Powell and Kerry Bragg. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 2:45 PM at the church on Sunday.

Mrs. Wadkins was born November 07, 1936 in Dawson, AL daughter of the late Charlie White and Callie Irene Painter White.

She was an active member of Concord Baptist Church for many years. Mrs. Wadkins enjoyed creating and teaching about ceramics and traveling, especially the mountains. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society where she had fun and fellowship on a regular basis. Mrs. Wadkins was also a member of the Eastern Star. She was also a passionate Alabama Football fan almost never missing watching a game. Because cooking was her gift, she often cooked special treats or meals on game days.

We will remember that the Christmas Season was her favorite. She loved almost all Christmas music too. Her love of God and family will always warm our hearts as we fondly remember her during this special season.

Mrs. Wadkins was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Callie White and her husband, Edward “Floyd” Wadkins; three brothers, Ray White, Warren White and Carl White.

Survivors include her two sons, Ronnie Wadkins (Jennifer) and Bobby Wadkins, Sr. (Linda); two sisters, Nell Duke and Brenda Baugh (Don); one brother, James White (Carol); three grandchildren, Bobby Wadkins, Jr. (Karley), Hannah Clark (Austin) and Tyler Wadkins (Mary); two precious great-grandchildren, Addilyn Clark and Harrison Clark; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
