Beverly Goins Thurmond

Beverly Goins Thurmond, 59, of Phenix City, AL, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Panama City, FL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am EDT, Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Vance Memorial Chapel.  Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm EDT at the funeral home.

Ms. Thurmond was born in Phenix City, AL, the daughter of the late W. L.  and Dot Goins.  She worked as a medical assistant for Dr. Serena Tidwell and spent countless hours caring for and loving on the children of others in the years she was a daycare worker and director and later as a personal nanny.

Other than her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Goins.

She is survived by two daughters, Stacy Edwards, husband Judson of Santa Rosa Beach, FL and Kaley Armstrong, husband Jason of Monticello, FL as well as two nephews she loved like her own, Brian Benton of Phenix City, AL, and Brady Benton, wife Tracey of Columbus, GA. She was also survived by her beloved sister and best friend, Becky Benton of Phenix City, AL, two brothers, Mike Goins, wife Jan of Phenix City, AL, and Drew Goins, wife Becky of Phenix City, AL, her aunt, Joyce Crosby of Phenix City, AL, three grandchildren she loved more than anything in the world, Carter, Maggie, and Sadie, and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Anyone that met Beverly knew that she was kind, caring, creative, fun loving, and full of life.  But more than anything else she was selfless —- selfless with her time, with her money, and above all with her love for all those around her.  Giving was her love language, and she always gave freely without seeking anything in return and was happy to do so.  No number can be placed on the many lives she touched, and no words can express the indelible impression she made on all those she knew and loved.  Though her absence will forever leave an immeasurable void in our hearts, may we all take the light of love she ignited within us and share it with the world as she did.
