Billy "Bill" Lee Messerly

Billy “Bill” Lee Messerly, 51, of Smiths Station, AL passed away Friday afternoon, October 26, 2018 in the comfort of his home.

 Bill was born June 10, 1967 in Norfolk, NE to the late John Messerly and Donna Waite Messerly.  He had worked most of his life as an independent contract painter.  

 Bill was a Lutheran by faith. He is survived by his beautiful bride of 32 years, Angela “Angie” Longe Messerly, one daughter, Whitney Mitchum and husband Michael, son Lee Messerly, his forever daughter-in-law Myranda Rasnick, and eight grandchildren, Laci, Gavin, June, Sophia, Bryce, Elijah, Connor and Riley, along with a host of extended loving family members and many caring friends.

 Bill loved spending every moment with his wife and grandchildren. He looked forward to his weekly phone calls with his son, Lee. He enjoyed afternoons fishing in his boat, being on the lake, and taking his dog, Abby, everywhere he went. He loved having spontaneous weekend getaways with his wife Angie. Some of his most memorable moments were spent with his grandchildren, cooking, fishing, and tubing and just spending time together, he loved including them in all of his day-to-day activities.  He was a remarkable father and grandfather “papa” and will be missed dearly.

 The family plans to hold a private celebration of life memorial service at a future date.
