Billy Joe Burkett, Sr.

Billy Joe Burkett, Sr., 51, of Columbus, GA passed away Friday, April 01, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital.  A funeral service will be held at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Thursday, April 07, 2016 beginning at 11:00 A.M. EST, with the Reverend Danny Courtney  officiating.  The interment will conclude the service at Parkhill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 06, 2016 at the funeral home from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. EST.  

Billy was born March 15, 1965 in Columbus, GA to the parents of Eula Eleanor Dixon Burkett and the late Earl Burkett.  He was a business owner who owned Burkett’s Body Shop and Garage on Veteran’s Parkway in Columbus.  He loved NASCAR.

Other than his father, Billy is predeceased by his loving wife of over 20 years, Tracey Stillwell Burkett; a son, Matthew Paul and a sister, Sheila Downs.

Survivors include his mother, Eula Burkett; a fiance’, Olivia Hay; three sons:  Billy Joe Burkett, Jr. of Columbus, GA, Danny Lee Burkett of Columbus, GA and Mason Burkett of Columbus, GA; three brothers:  Kenneth Earl Burkett of Columbus, GA, James Burkett (Barbara) of Columbus, GA and John Burkett of Columbus, GA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
