Billy Ray Stokes

Billy Ray Stokes, 74, of Smiths Station, AL passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm EDT Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Vance Memorial Chapel with Rev. Frances Corbin and Boyd Cochran officiating.  Interment with military honors will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EDT at the funeral home.

Mr. Stokes was born November 24, 1943 in Chancellor, AL son of the late Luther D. Stokes and Callie Flowers Stokes Hodges.  He retired from the United States Army and later worked for Kinnett Diary.  Mr. Stokes was a member of Faith Temple Assembly of God in Phenix City, AL.  He loved to work and help people.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Duene Stokes and E. J. Stokes.

Mr. Stokes is survived by his loving wife Tina Evans Stokes of Smiths Station, AL; two daughters, Tricia Stokes Malone and husband Curtis of Phenix City, AL and LeAnn Rawls of Mountain View, AR; one son, Jeff Stokes and wife Lori of San Antonio, TX; eight grandchildren, Stephanie Freiny, Heather Jefferys, Honesty Witmer, Justin Malone, Michael Stokes, Madison Davis, Mitchell Davis and Cody Davis; great-grandchildren, Aidan, Braylen, Alanta and Kayden; many extended family and caring friends.
