Bobby Earl Wiggs, 71, of Phenix City, AL passed away Saturday afternoon, January 23, 2016 at Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, GA.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 pm EST Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Evangel Temple Assembly of God Church in Columbus. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 pm EST at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City. Serving as pallbearers are Johnny “Dawg” Carlton, Larry Casey, Don Fuller, Johnny Gilmore, O.B. Pattillo, Larry Philpot, and Larry Zachary, honorary pallbearers are the present and past members of the Golden Quarters Investment Club.
Mr. Wiggs was born May 21, 1944 in Richlands, NC to the late William Barton Wiggs and Dunnie Frances Pittman Wiggs. He retired from Mead Paper with over 36 years of dedicated service and was a member of Evangel Temple Assembly of God Church where he was officer of Friendship Bible Sunday School class. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid outdoorsman. He loved cultivating, planting and sharing his garden. His talent for building and repairing just about anything earned him the nicknames, “Handyman” and “Jack of All Trades”. He often lent a helping hand to friends and neighbors, sharing his gifts and talents. He was a 39-year resident of the Tara III subdivision in Phenix City, and was a treasured member of the neighborhood community. But, most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Wiggs was also a member of the Golden Quarters Investment Club and a member of the Rose Hill Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Joyce Milner Wiggs of Phenix City, AL, daughter, Dunnie “Denise” Wiggs Wilkerson and husband Curtis of Smiths Station, AL, son, Timothy Earl “Timmy” Wiggs and wife Vivian of Harris County, GA, three grandchildren, Brittanna Dae “Britt” Wilkerson, Christian Earl Wiggs, and Sophia Alexis “Sophie” Wilkerson, sisters, Cynthia Hatcher, Betty Jean Gordy and husband Bob, Kay Manning and husband David, brothers, Jessie Ray Wiggs, and Michael Phillips and Jean, all of North Carolina, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many caring friends. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters: Billy Wiggs, Milton Wiggs, Margie Jones, Lettie Watson, William Wiggs Jr. Irene Wiggs, and Pauline Summerlin.
The family would like to extend special thanks to his doctors, the John B. Amos Cancer Center staff and the Oncology medical staff at Midtown Medical Center.
