Bobby Foard Nance, 83, of Seale, AL died at his residence on Sunday, July 04, 2021 with his family by his side.
Graveside services with U. S. Army Honors will be held at 11:00AM (EST) on Thursday, July 08, 2021 in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Rev. Ralph Henderson officiating according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5:00 till 7:00 PM (EST) at the funeral home.
Bobby was born October 02, 1937 in Catawba County, NC son of the late Cletus Nance and Evelyn Brooks Nance. He served in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Germany and Hawaii and served two tours in Viet Nam; he retired from his last duty station at Ft. Benning with 20 years of dedicated service. After retiring from the Army, he worked for a short time with the Alabama Highway Department and later for the John Deere Dealership in Columbus, GA as a heavy equipment salesman. This led him to his passion of operating heavy equipment and eventually starting his own business, Bob’s Backhoe Service. He was an active member of Oswichee Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for many years. Mr. Nance was also elected Russell County Constable in his local district. Bobby loved all breeds of horses, owning and enjoying his paint horses for many years. He just loved being at home with his family and working on the farm.
He is survived by wife of 51 Years, Carolyn Jones Nance, Seale, AL;
Five daughters, Shana Smith, (Omer), Danna Gesellchen, (Kalon), Sylvia Nance, Barbie Nelson-Hendricks, Renee Thomson, (Alex); three sisters, Maxine Nance, Brenda Tomlison, and Cathy Morrison; Twelve grandchildren and two great granddaughters; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Beverly Jones, and brother-in-law, Walton Jones; several other family members and friends.
The family wishes to express gratitude for the compassionate care provided by the nurses from the Hospice service.
