Bobby Ivey, age 79, resident of Salem, Alabama, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 28, 2021. Private funeral services are being held at the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, Alabama with Reverend Matt Stevens officiating and interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. Visitation, without the family, will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, January 31, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. Mr. Ivey, son of the late Amos Ivey and Tennie Snell Ivey, was born February 8, 1941 in Donalsonville, Georgia. He was a member of Grace Nazarene Church, Columbus, Georgia. Mr. Ivey loved the Lord, his family and lived life his way. He was an avid Alabama football fan and enjoyed listening to gospel music, particularly the Gaither Homecomings. He was an excellent painter, enjoyed working in his garden, watching westerns on T.V. and building bird feeders for his late wife enjoyment of bird watching. Mr. Ivey enjoyed fishing and grilling for his family.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Ivey; sister, Betty Ivey Ashley; and infant brother, Jackie Ivey.
Mr. Ivey is survived by three daughters, Kay White and her husband Cliff of Vernon, Florida, Brenda Ivey and Judy Ivey Wise, both of Columbus, Georgia; two sons, Aubrey Carter and his wife Joanne of Smiths Station, Alabama and Jeff Carter and his wife Jackie of Salem; one sister, Jean Killingsworth and her husband Billy of Phenix City, Alabama; one brother, Amos “Bud” Ivey and his wife Beverly of Smiths Station; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in his honor to your favorite charity.
