Mr. Battles was born April 11, 1946, in Houston County, AL son of the late John Henry Battles and Lula Branton Battles. He and his late wife, Delores, were founding members of Grace Freewill Baptist Church, Phenix City, AL where they were active until they were called home to Heaven. Mr. Battles was a U. S. Navy veteran proudly serving our country. Mr. Battles had worked for the Phenix City Police and Russell County Sheriff’s office for several years; however, he changed careers and became a contractor. As the owner of B & H Construction and later Classic Home Improvements he built numerous houses and worked on various other projects in and around this area for years.
Mr. Battles loved his family and the time spent with them. They often enjoyed watching Braves Baseball and Alabama Football. He also found pleasure in hunting and fishing as often as his schedule would allow. We will remember him as a man of great faith and a straightforward attitude.
