Bradley Edward Johnson, 54, of Phenix City, Alabama passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2024 at Columbus Hospice House surrounded by his loving family.
Bradley was born on September 15, 1970 in Birmingham, Alabama to Ed Johnson and Margaret Wimberley Van Horn. He graduated from Central High School, Phenix City, Alabama in 1989 and was a bartender and business owner by trade.
Bradley was preceded in death by his grandparents Hugh and Rebecca Johnson and Gilbert and Hilda Wimberley and his stepmother, Faye Johnson.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Margaret Van Horn (Fred), his father, Ed Johnson, sisters Amy Jordan (Marty) and Gayla Greene (Dennis), nieces Abby Barbaree (John) and Kathryn Munnings (Jeremy), great niece Andi Barbaree and special aunt Marion Hardesty. He will also be missed by several extended nieces, cousins and nephews.
Brad was a gentle soul that enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his mother, who was his best friend. He loved playing with and taking care of his dogs, London and Charlie. In addition to Brad’s sisters, Amy and Gayla, he was a proud friend to many who considered him a brother. He loved nothing more than sitting and talking with friends (sometimes heated), laughing, debating and solving all of the world’s problems.
Brad loved Star Trek and was a total “Trekkie”. He enjoyed building laser guns and selling them to other Star Trek fans on eBay. He also enjoyed cooking and creating specialty concoctions, to include sauces and salsa, his most famous being the “Make Meat Great Again” Trump Sauce. He loved to assemble gourmet salads with a Balsamic reduction dressing and shared his talents with his family. He had recently taken up the hobby of Ham Radios, a love shared and passed down to him by his father, Ed.
We will all miss his infectious smile, handsome good looks and his tender heart and look forward to seeing him again in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ.
To honor Brad’s memory, a Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 1:00 PM (EST) at Lakewood Baptist Church in Phenix City, the Rev. Charles Keown officiating. There will be a short visitation for family and friends at the conclusion of the service.
