Brenda Fay Sumner Ware

Brenda Fay Sumner Ware, 81, of Phenix City, AL died at Piedmont Columbus Midtown, Columbus, GA on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Midway Baptist Church, Smiths Station, AL with Pastor Stephen Ward officiating according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL. Interment will follow in Crawford Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour at the church on Saturday. 

Mrs. Ware was born September 26, 1943, in Birmingham, AL daughter of the late Otis Sumner and Ruth Feltman Gore. She had retired from Swift Mills as a Lab Tech. Mrs. Ware was an active member of Midway Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher and part of the AWANA program and Children’s Church; plus, she also found time to sing in the choir. Mrs. Ware loved to fish on the river, especially for catfish. Mr. Lonnie, her husband, said their first date was on the river fishing together. She also enjoyed flowers and the beautiful hummingbirds that were attracted to them. 

We will miss her in our daily routine; however, she will forever live in our hearts. 

Mrs. Ware was preceded in death by her parents Otis Sumner and Ruth Gore, a brother, Fred Steven Gore and a son, Lonnie Joe Ware, Jr.

Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Lonnie Joe Ware, Sr., Phenix City, AL; nine children, Melissa James, Thomas Meares (Rhonda), Sarah Flynn (Danny), Robin Rozell (Raymond), Matthew Meares, Philip Meares, Tracy Gordon (Jesse), Charles Ware (Tammy) and Charlene Brewer; one brother, Michael Gore (Pamela); 27 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson on the way; one niece and two great-nieces; numerous other family and friends. 

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made in her memory to Midway Baptist Church, 9244 Mullin Rd, Smiths Station, AL 36877.
