Calvin Lewis Rentz, 62, of Salem, AL passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, January 21, 2016 in the comfort of his home while surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm EST Monday, January 25, 2016 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Dr. David Kees and Rev. Stanley Carter officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 pm EST at the funeral home.
Mr. Rentz was born February 14, 1953 in Hazlehurst, GA to the late John Preston Rentz and Thelma Mary McNeal Rentz Carter. He was retired as an engineer with Norfolk Southern Railway and was a member of Smiths Station Baptist Church. He enjoyed farming, raising horses and cows, hunting, fishing, golf, the outdoors, visiting the beach, and family time.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Mary Frank Nail Rentz of Salem, AL, three children, Lucy Rentz Stone and husband Greg of Columbus, GA, Levi Rentz and wife Haleigh of Salem, AL, and Lewis Rentz of Salem, AL; three brothers, Jack Rentz and wife Fannie Lou, Dob Rentz and wife Pat, and John Rentz and wife Kathy all of Hazlehurst, GA, three precious grandchildren, Lane Stone, Fitz Stone, and Sawyer Rentz, numerous other loving family members and many caring friends. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to Smiths Station Baptist Church in memory of Mr. Calvin Rentz.
