Carmen Kay Elmore, a beacon of love and light in her family and community, passed away on December 26, 2024, at the age of 64. Born on February 4, 1960, in Chamberlain, South Dakota, Carmen embodied the essence of warmth, kindness, and joy throughout her life. A graveside service will be held in Carmen's honor on January 10, 2025, at 1:30 PM at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery in Fort Mitchell, Alabama, where family and friends will gather to celebrate the extraordinary life she lived.
Carmen worked as an industrial electrician at Smith Gray Electric Company, devoting many years to her career until her well-earned retirement. Her dedication to her work was evident not only in her professionalism but also in her commitment to empowering those around her. Carmen earned an Associate's degree in electrical technology, a testament to her pursuit of knowledge and excellence.
To know Carmen was to love her. She deeply cared for everyone she encountered, often putting the needs of others above her own. Her selfless and bubbly personality made her an irreplaceable presence in the lives of family and friends. Carmen was a proud rodeo queen in her younger years, known for her vivacious spirit and her love for life. She had an extraordinary green thumb, nurturing any plant she touched and watching them flourish under her care. Carmen took immense pride in her home, which was not just a dwelling but her favorite place where memories were made and cherished. Her love for nurturing extended beyond plants; it was woven into her role as a coach for youth soccer, where she dedicated many years to shaping young lives on and off the field. Her enthusiasm and unwavering support earned her the title of All-Star Coach several times, a reflection of the affection and respect she garnered from her players and their families. Carmen was also a remarkable chef, delighting her loved ones with meals crafted from love and attention to detail. Her kitchen was a gathering place, filled with laughter and the rich aromas of her culinary creations, making every meal a celebration.
Carmen’s family was her proudest accomplishment. She was not only a devoted wife to her husband of over 12 years, Larry Elmore, but also a loving mother to her sons, Adam Tull and his wife Yamilet, and Matthew Tull and his wife Tiffany. She cherished her sisters, Stacy Reed and Melissa Bickler, and kept close connections with her uncle, Darrell Graves. Above all, Carmen was a treasured grandmother to Brennan, Shalom, Ariel, Troy, Myra, Jacob, and Daniel. She attended every one of her grandchildren's events, celebrating their achievements with unyielding enthusiasm, always their loudest cheerleader and biggest fan.
She is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Karol Master, and her stepfather, Gene Master.
Carmen leaves behind a legacy filled with love, compassion, and joyous memories. Her spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of all whose lives she touched. As we remember Carmen, let us carry forward her spirit of kindness, her love for family, and her enduring passion for life.
