Carole Mallory Merritt

Carole Mallory Merritt, 74, of Columbus, GA, passed away Monday, December 7, 2015 at Columbus Hospice House, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Friday, December 11, 2015 beginning at 11:00 AM EST.  Dr. Tim Jones will be officiating.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM EST.  There will be a private interment at Parkhill Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.

Carole was born July 13, 1941 in Atlanta, GA to the late Edward Mallory and Enid Graham Mallory Wrench Smith.  She was a member of Britt David Baptist Church. Carole was a volunteer at MARS Radio Station while living on the island of Crete, Greece.  She loved her family dearly.  She also enjoyed sewing, cake decorating, and traveling. 

Survivors include her husband of fifty-five years, David Merritt; one daughter:  Natalie Benham of Columbus, GA; one son:  Scott Merritt (Tracey) of Orlando, FL; three grandchildren:  Parker, Bailey and Madison Merritt; one sister:  Martha Ledbetter (David) of Columbus, GA; two step-sisters:  Pat Altman and Polly Wrench, both of Columbus, GA; one sister-in-law:  Melody Merritt of Wetumpka, AL; two nieces:  Penny Wischusen and Julie Merritt; and one nephew:  Jimmy Ledbetter.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 5156 River Road Suite M, Columbus, GA  31904.
