Carolyn Blackston, age 76, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at her residence. Graveside services are scheduled at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, 553 AL-165, Fort Mitchell, Alabama on Friday, December 23, 2022, 11:30 a.m. (EST) with Pastor Joseph Nichols officiating, according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 US Hwy 431N, Phenix City, Alabama. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, December 22, 2022, from 5-7 p.m.
Mrs. Blackston, daughter of the late William Henry Norris and Mary Frances Johnson Norris, was born July 28, 1946, in Bay Minette, Alabama. She was Pentecostal by faith and had attended First Assembly of God, Phenix City, Alabama. Mrs. Blackston, a dedicated Christian woman, loved her family immensely. She was known as a true caregiver by many. Mrs. Blackston enjoyed spending time working in her yard and bird watching. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends in her kitchen, listening to Southern Gospel music, reading her Bible, and doing puzzles. The family remembers her as a loving and caring Christian lady who never met a stranger.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Blackston was preceded in death by her husband, Moley Bernard Blackston; and three brothers.
She is survived by three daughters, Cathy B. Crowson and her husband David of Phenix City, Sonya “Sam” Bishop and her husband Jared of Phenix City, and Alicia Gayler of Summerville, South Carolina; one son, Greg Blackston of Phenix City; one sister, Linda Joette Livings of Troy, Alabama; seven grandchildren, Bryan, Jeremy, Brooke, Kortnei, Austin, Hannah, and Hunter; eleven great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Natalie, JJ, Hallie, Avery, Carter, Anthony, Abi, Evie, Eli, and Quinn; many other relatives and friends.
