Carolyn Ruth Stewart, 66, of Smiths Station, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Columbus Hospice House while surrounded by her loving family.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am EST on Friday April 9, 2021 at Union Primitive Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Steve Faulk officiating.
Ms. Stewart was born in Phenix City, AL the daughter of Cora Estelle Brown McVay. She worked in retail sales at Parisians until she retired. Ms. Stewart enjoyed gardening and taking care of her beloved cat “Sugar” of 17 years. But most of all, Carolyn loved being a mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren.
Other than her mother, Ms. Stewart was preceded in death by one brother Dean McVay.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Kimberly Stewart of Smiths Station, AL; son Daniel Stewart of Atlanta, GA; two sisters Helen Brown and Cherrie Glover and her husband Billy of Carrolton, GA; one sister in law Susan Owings and her husband Bobby of Seale, AL and Carrol Lee of Smiths Station, AL; grandchild Jacob Sandy and his wife Ambria of Sumter, SC and a host of other friends and relatives.
The family would like to express a heart-felt “Thank You” to her two in-home caregivers Faye and JoAnn, Columbus Hospice and The John B. Amos Cancer Center.
