Carson D. Mitchell, Jr.

Carson Delone Mitchell, Jr., 91, of Phenix City, AL passed away Friday, December 23, 2016 at Parkwood Health Care in Phenix City, AL.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm EST Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City.  Interment with Military Honors will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Mitchell was born January 4, 1925 in Glenwood, GA, son of the late Carson Delone Mitchell, Sr. and Jessie Mae Campbell Mitchell.  He served as a Railroad Telegrapher and was retired from CSX Railroad with 45 years of service.  He was proud to serve our country and was a WWII veteran of the United States Navy.  He was a member of The American, Legion, and Fletcher McCollister Post 135 in Phenix City for 71 years, and also was a member of Wilson Williams Masonic Lodge; he enjoyed photography, and was a Baptist by faith.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of almost 72 years, Dorothy Nadine Scott Mitchell of Phenix City, AL, two sons, Wayne Mitchell and wife Barbara of Phenix City, AL, and Alan Mitchell and wife Carol of Franklin, NC, one brother, Henry “Roger” Mitchell and wife Sylvia of Vidalia, GA, (3) grandchildren, Jonathan Crockett (Dana), Jason Mitchell (Holly), and Brent Mitchell, (4) great grandchildren, Hannah Mitchell, Riley Mitchell, Amelia Crockett, and Caroline Crockett, sister-in-law, Dona Edenfield, numerous other loving family members, and many caring friends.
