Mr. Castilla Evans

Castilla Evans 94, of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at his home. Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 2, 2021, at 11:00 AM (EST) at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 Hwy 431 N, Phenix City, Alabama, with Reverend Wayne Scarborough officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior, 10:00 to 11:00 AM (EST) at the funeral home; followed by a committal at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Castilla was born on April 21, 1927, in Marianna, FL, the son of the late Oliver and Tessie Evans. He worked as a fixer at Fieldcrest Mill before his retirement. Castilla was a family man and devoted Christian, He loved reading the bible, growing vegetables in his garden, fishing, and hunting. He enjoyed reminiscing with his grandchildren about his youth and days as a baseball player. He is a member of Auburn Heights Baptist Church. He previously was a member of Bethany Baptist Church for more than 40 years, serving as chairman of the Deacons, RA leader and Sunday School teacher. Castilla will always be remembered for his love of the Lord and his family and that his word was his bond.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Evans; father and mother, Oliver and Tessie Evans; one brother, William (Mildred) Evans; three sisters, Lucille (Nigel) Hurst, Louise (Roy) Haskell and Gracie (Lee) Myers.

He is survived by two daughters, Cathy Evans Barnhardt and Wanda (Roger) Senn; two sons, Steve Evans and Mickey Evans; three grandsons, Dalton Evans, Heath Evans and Michael (Jenn) Bratton; granddaughter, Brandy Senn; great-granddaughters, Kelsey Evans and Everly Bratton; great-grandson, Cale Bratton; as well as several extended family and caring friends.
