Cecil Hinton

Cecil L. Hinton, 95, of Columbus, GA. Passed away Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Muscogee Manor. Graveside services are scheduled for Thursday, October 3, 2013, beginning at 1:00 P.M. EST at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 2, 2013 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. EST at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA.

Cecil L. Hinton was born, July 14, 1918 in Butler, GA. son of the late Grady and Eva Hinton. Cecil joined the U.S. Army, proudly sacrificing for his fellow Americans. Cecil was a surviving veteran from World War II, also serving during the greatest battle in American history, the Battle of the Bulge and the Invasion of Normandy.

Other than his parents Cecil is preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Hinton, son, Grady Hinton, sister, Alma Kirksey and a step-brother Emory Kirksey. Survivors include one daughter Cecelia Ann Welch, and husband Ken, Columbus, GA; grandchild, Mandy Welch, Columbus, GA; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Logan; step-brother, Junior Kirksey; nieces and nephews, Judy, Carlton, and Ellen; Cecil also leaves behind many caring friends and other loving extended family members.
