Cecil “Lawnmower Man” Ferguson, 93, of Phenix City, AL passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Gentiva Hospice at Franciscan Woods in Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held 12:30 pm EST Friday, December 23, 2016 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Rev. Gary walker officiating. A private interment with Military Honors will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at the funeral home.
Mr. Ferguson was born March 23, 1923 in Thomasville, GA to the late David Ferguson and Eva O’Hearn McClung. He was retired from United Cities with 39 ½ years of service. He served our country and was a WWII Veteran of the United States Army. His passion was collecting and showing antique cars and he had won a multitude of awards and plaques for his beautiful cars. He also had a hobby of repairing lawnmowers and was known as the “Lawnmower Man”. He was a member of Ladonia Baptist Church. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Louise Lloyd Ferguson, step-father, W. C. McClung, and four brothers, Leon Boyd Ferguson, C. J. Hand, Roland McClung, and Curtis McClung.
He is survived by one daughter, Linda Diane Ferguson Mulkey and husband Franklin, two sons, Cecil “Earl” Ferguson and wife JoAnn, and Ronald Wayne Ferguson and wife Tammy; grandchildren, Scottie (Cher), Robbie (Michele), Ronnie (Lynda), Candace, Patrick, John David and Aubrey; great-grandchildren, Riley, Cooper, Megan (Brandon), Christian, Dyani, Rainey, Logan, Bryson, Morgan, Gentry and Addison; great-great-grandchild, Conner; numerous other family members and many caring friends.
