Charles Allen "Chuck" Johnson

Charles Allen “Chuck” Johnson, 64, of Crawford, AL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 14, 2016, in the comfort of his home while surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Rev. John Bush and Rev. Steve Williamson officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 pm EDT at the funeral home.

Chuck was born December 17, 1951, in Columbus, GA, to the late Jack Johnson and Betty R. Johnson.  He was the owner/operator of Johnson Glass Company and a longtime member of Crawford Baptist Church. He served as a member of the Russell County Board of Education for 12 years.  Chuck had a great love for the Crawford Community and his home place in Crawford.  He enjoyed fishing, football, the outdoors, gardening, flowers, and spending quality time with his family.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carl William “Bill” Johnson.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 43 years, Marcia Elizabeth Veal Johnson of Crawford, AL, four children, Adam Johnson and wife Kristie of Salem, AL, Amy Bickerstaff of Columbus, GA, Micah Johnson and wife Mandy of Headland, AL, Jacob Johnson and wife Ellen of Crawford, AL, one sister, Jane Johnson Brady and husband David of Smiths Station, AL, two brothers, Judge Albert Louis Johnson and wife Jean of Crawford, AL, and Daniel Lynn Johnson of Phenix City, AL; (8) grandchildren, Tyler Johnson, Megan Johnson, Kaitlyn Johnson, Marjorie Bickerstaff, Arthur Bickerstaff, Remington Johnson, Evelyn Miller Johnson, and Silas Johnson; a sister in-law Rhonda Johnson of Fairhope, AL; several brothers and sisters-in-law, a host of nieces and nephews, extended family, church family, and many caring friends.
