Charles Allen Shierling, Sr.

Charles Allen Shierling, Sr., 75, of Columbus, GA passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016 at his residence in Columbus, GA.  A graveside service will be held at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Monday, February 22, 2016 beginning at 3:00 P.M. EST, with the Reverend Bob Hawkins officiating.  The family will receive friends Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. EST.  

Charles was born July 28, 1940 in Barney, GA to the parents of the late William Leroy and Carol Weldon Shierling.  He was a member of Cascade Hill Baptist Church and was also a Deacon at First Free Will Baptist Church. He was hard-working, dedicated and a successful business owner.  He was a wonderful cook, family man and he loved the Lord.

Other than his parents, Charles is predeceased by his loving wife of 41 years, Glinda “Dale” Parrish Shierling and two brothers, James and Leroy Shierling.

Survivors include a daughter, Lorrie Lix (Reverend David Lix) of Columbus, GA;  a son, C. Allen Shierling Jr. of Columbus, GA; two sisters:  Mary Ellen Lawson (Thomas) of Rockledge, FL, and Linda Cook of Ashland, VA; four brothers:  William Shierling (Valda) of St. Augustine FL, Julian Shierling (Lenelle) of Valdosta, GA; George E. Shierling of Deland, FL, and Gene Shierling (Ginnie) of Phenix City, AL; and one grandchild, Lydia Lix of Columbus, GA. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HelpHopeLive, Two Radnor Corporate Center, 100 Matsonford Road Suite 100, Radnor, PA  19087 in honor of his son, C. Allen Shierling, Jr.  The donations will assist with funding for a kidney transplant for C. Allen Shierling, Jr.
