Charles B. Hudson, 82, of Smiths Station, AL passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, August 17, 2018 in the comfort of his home while surrounded by his family.
A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am EST Wednesday morning, August 22, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Phenix City with Father David Hamm officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST with a Rosary beginning at 6:00 pm at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City.
Mr. Hudson was born October 8, 1935 in Mobile, AL to the late Kathryn Blair Hudson. He was retired from Bellsouth with 40 plus years of dedicated service. He served our country proudly and was retired from the United States Navy Reserves with 20 years of service. He enjoyed tinkering with different projects, watching old movies, listening to music, reading, spending time at his cabin on the backwaters, sharing special times with all his family, and he loved his church, and his church family. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Phenix City. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Bradly Hudson.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Dottie Ann Simmons Hudson, children, Timothy “Mark” Hudson, Christopher Hudson and wife Ginger, Patrick Hudson and wife H. J., Joseph Ellis, Debbie Berley, Tony Ellis and wife Dee Dee, Sharon Ellis, and Billy Ellis and wife Cindy; (13) grandchildren, (11) great grandchildren, church family, and many caring friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to his favorite charities of the Catholic Church, or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or the Parkinson’s Foundation in memory of Mr. Charles Hudson.
