Charles David Morris, 74, of Smiths Station, AL passed away Friday evening, August 16, 2019 at Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital in Phenix City, AL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am EST on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Pastor Gerald Corbin officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers are Sean Jordan, Ronnie Rehburg, Rodgerick Dykes, Terry Braswell, Scott Riddle, Jamie Byrd, Mark Stillwell, and Donnie Wynn.
Charles was born January 16, 1945 in Douglas, GA, son of the late Monroe Morris and Ruby Barrentine Reece. He had worked with Norfolk Southern Railroad for 37 years of dedicated service and was retired. Charles loved the outdoors and nature; he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. He was a gentleman of humor, always laughing and joking and one who never met a stranger; he loved his family, people, and fellowship. He was a Christian by faith. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Mary Alice Morris, and two brothers, Jimmy Morris and Travis Morris.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Sharon Grimes Morris, two sons, Rickey Morris and wife Robin, and Andy Morris and wife Kim, four sisters, Carol Martin, Thelma Monezyn and husband Joe, Delaine Britt and husband Harold, and Helen Krug, five brothers, Buddy Morris and wife Cathy, Curtis Morris and wife Peggy, Earl Varnadore, Herman Varnadore and wife Jackie, and Marion J. Morris, two very precious grandsons, David Morris, and Michael Ippolito, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many caring friends.
