Charles Eugene “Gene” Corbitt, 72, of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, December 30, 2017, while surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral Services for Mr. Corbitt will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Vance Memorial Chapel, Phenix City, AL, with Bro. David Wilson and Bro. Jimmy Symons officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8:00 PM at the funeral home. A private interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery.
Mr. Corbitt was born in Columbus, GA, but lived most of his early life in Seale, AL. As a young adult, Gene enlisted into the United States Air Force to Serve his country during the Vietnam War. While serving in the military, he met and married his wife of 49 years, Marcia Howard Corbitt. After his service, Gene became a skilled carpenter and remained self-employed until his retirement.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Corbitt is survived by his mother Nellie Ruth Burns Corbitt; three daughters, Sheree Wilson and husband David of Ft. Mitchell, AL, Christi Coburn and husband Buddy of Auburn, AL and Rebecca Symons and husband Jimmy of Eufaula, AL; one sister Carolyn O’Keefe and husband Kevin of Peachtree City, GA; two brothers Lewis Corbitt and wife Rona of San Antonio, TX and Ray Corbitt of Seale, AL; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
