Charles Luther Senn was called home by his lord and savior on Sunday, October 3, 2021. He passed peacefully at his home with family and lifelong friends that were the same as family. He was 91 years old and a resident of Smiths Station, AL. Charles was originally from Pike County, AL.
A funeral service will be held 12:00 noon est on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Philadelphia Baptist Church in Smiths Station, AL with Rev. Skip Speed officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery immediately following the service. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon, one hour prior to the service, at the church.
Charles was an Army Veteran and served as a medic during the Korean War. He was also an entrepreneur with multiple successful businesses over the years in auto sales, auto auctions, barber and beauty supply, and Phenix Serum and Western Store. Charles enjoyed fishing, bird hunting, raising livestock and working in the hay field. Even after his “retirement”, he was always the first one to arrive at Phenix Serum to prepare the store for daily business. He loved greeting every person that came through the door.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Martha Senn, parents, Mamie and Charlie Senn, and nine siblings, Luvada Adamson, Clevester Senn, Horace Senn, Gladys Daniels, Gillis Senn, Addie Pearl Hinkle, Jerome Senn, Catherine Griswold, and Harold Senn.
He leaves behind his children Charlene Jones and husband Ron and Michael Senn of Smiths Station. Three siblings, Clyde Lee of Troy, Betty Kelly and husband Monroe of Phenix City, and Sharon Adams and husband Walter of Phenix City. His grandchild, Amanda Strickland and husband John, and a great grandchild Caleb Jones Strickland, which he referred to as “my little buddy”.
