Charlie Ray Reeder

Charlie Ray Reeder, 83, of Smiths Station, AL died while at Piedmont, Midtown, Columbus, GA on Tuesday, July 19, 2022.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 21^st at 2:00 PM (EST) in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Dr. David Kees officiating. A private interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Reeder was born January 24,1939 in Barbour County, AL son of the late Cedell Reeder (who died when Mr. Reeder was a small child) and Lovie Vickers Reeder. He was a member of Smiths Station Baptist Church for many years where he worshiped with family and friends. He had retired from Southern Phenix Textiles after 50 years of committed service. During his work career he served as a Loom Fixer, Instructor and Superintendent of Weave Room Maintenance. Mr. Reeder loved people and loved to talk to them too. He never met a stranger no matter where he went. This love of people has endeared him to everyone around him. He will be missed greatly, but his smile will be reflected in the face of everyone who shares their story of him.

Mr. Reeder was preceded in death by his parents, Cedell and Lovie Reeder and stepdad, Leontse Key; his five brothers, Buford, Alonzo, Ladon, Wayne and Jerry; Brother-in-law James Pittman and grandson Sean Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Alice Faye Gunter Reeder; a son Charlie Eugene “Gene” Reeder (Diane); daughter, Nora Faye Thompson (Jeff); sister, Betty Pittman; eight grandchildren, Betty (John), Bryan (Angie), Mindy, Chris (Terri), Jeff (Kristin), Traci (Andrew), Adam (Lyndi) and Heather Smith; 13 great-grandchildren, Hudson, Addy, Natalie, Wyatt, Sutton, Aubrey, Slade, Kinsley, Bradley, Blake, Colton, Zoe, and Harper (and one the way!); numerous nieces, nephews, and friends
