Cheryl Musser, age 65, resident of Smiths Station, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Piedmont Midtown Columbus. Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 US Hwy 431N, Phenix City, Alabama on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, 2 p.m. with Reverend (Dr.) Johnny Ellison officiating. Private interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 from 1-2 p.m.
Mrs. Musser, daughter of Wallace M. Reid, Sr., and the late Ancebelle Walker Reid, was born July 26, 1955 in Independence, Louisiana. She was a member of Golden Acres Baptist Church and retired from the U.S. Postal Service where she faithfully employed for over 36 years. Mrs. Musser loved to bake and cook. She was a collector of hummels and baby dolls. Mrs. Musser enjoyed arts and crafts, and looked forward to taking trips or cruises, especially to Alaska. She enjoyed watching sports programs and always followed the LSU Tigers, New Orleans Saints, and the Dallas Cowboys. Mrs. Musser also spent quality time with her cats and dog, Elvis. She was known to be a “shopper” of jewelry and loved to wear the jewelry she purchased. The most important focus in her life was spending time with her family. The family remembers her as a lady who was compassionate, caring, and a giving lady. She will greatly missed, always loved and never forgotten.
Besides her mother, she was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Hudson, and a nephew, Bradley Reid. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, L.R. “Ricky” Musser of Smiths Station, Alabama; one step-daughter, Melissa Dogan of Phenix City, Alabama; one step-son, John Musser of Smiths Station; two sisters, Sandy Betterton and her husband A.B. of Leesville, Louisiana and Debbie Sumrall of Austin, Texas; one brother, Wallace Reid, Jr. and his wife Faith of Buford, Georgia; five step-grandchildren, Lane Musser, Tara Musser, Tatum Jeffcoat, Gabe Musser, and Vega Dogan; sister-in-law, Debbie Shadding and her husband Mike of Smiths Station; many other relatives and friends.
