Chester “Drew” Golden, age 50, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 25, 2020. Private funeral services will be held at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 US Hwy 431N, Phenix City, Alabama. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 27, 2020 from 7 – 8 p.m.
Mr. Golden, son of the late Chester Earl Golden and Daphine Louise Gray Golden, was born May 16, 1969 in Columbus, Georgia. After he graduated from high school, Drew took some college classes and began working at body shops where he did body repair and then transitioned to selling car body paint. He then began working in the furniture industry, working faithfully at J.D. Kinder’s Furniture and then Farmer’s Home Furniture for over 15 years. During this time working, he ventured out into the world of professional wrestling. During his wrestling career, which span from 1990 till 2015, he wrestled numerous matches and was known throughout the industry as “Hot Property Drew Golden.” Later, he became part of a tag team known as “Southside Trash” where his name was known as “Raunchy.” Drew thoroughly enjoyed wrestling and the excitement it brought to thousands of people.
Drew was a born-again Christian and was ordained into the ministry, preaching the Gospel to many, and performed several weddings and funerals. He had a unique memory and great sense of humor. Drew enjoyed making people laugh and being a practical joker to many. He loved people and people loved him. His family remembers Drew as a man who loved his family, a happy person who loved life.
Other than his parents, Drew was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Nettie Louise Gray. He is survived by his wife of over 19 years, Melissa Golden of Phenix City, Alabama; two daughters, Holly Golden of Phenix City, Alabama and Brenda Golden Moates and her husband Eric of Clanton, Alabama; son, Chester Golden of Phenix City, Alabama; two sisters, Melanie Simpson and her husband David of Phenix City, Alabama and Kathy Willis and her husband Rob of Opelika, Alabama; brother, Ted Golden and his wife Chris of Columbus, Georgia; three granddaughters, Lexie Hickman, Saylor Tooker, and Zoey Moates; mother-in-law, Connie Miller of Pike County, Georgia; nieces; nephews; many other relatives and friends.
