Clara M. Newman Grimes

Clara M. Newman Grimes, 80, of Phenix City, AL stepped into Heaven while at Parkwood Nursing Home, Sunday, July 25, 2021 with her husband by her side.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM (EST) on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Lakewood Baptist Church with Rev. M. R. Hamilton officiating according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL. A private interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 -8:00 PM (EST) at the funeral home.
Mrs. Grimes was born May 01, 1941 daughter of the late Harvey Newman and Lena Belle Mancil Newman. She had retired as a Para Pro after several years of dedicated service with the Phenix City School Board. Ms. Clara was also a past member of Order of Eastern Star in Florida and she was active with Friends of the Library, a volunteer with the River Center of Performing Arts of Columbus, and the Red Hat Society. She was also a very active member of Lakewood Baptist Church where she was involved in numerous ministries including the AMEN Choir. Her faith and positive witness of Christ and her love of family will always bring us comfort as we remember her in our hearts.
Mrs. Grimes was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Bobby Moulton and a brother, Rev. Ray Newman.
Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Terry Laverte Grimes, Phenix City, AL; stepdaughter, Laura Grimes Newman, (Rev. Dr. Rusty Newman) Jefferson, GA; stepson, Steve Laverte Grimes; brother, Rev. Joe Newman, Chesapeake, VA; four grandchildren, Grant, Austin, Carson, and Maggie; three greatgrandchildren; nieces and nephews, Cassidy Stecenko, Ashley Baker, Jay Moulton, Susan Newman and Sara Newman; several other family members and friends.
