Cleveland Edward Lewis

Cleveland Edward Lewis, 74, of Phenix City, AL passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm EST Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City.  Interment with Military Honors will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Mr. Lewis was born February 19, 1942 in Mobile, AL to the late Asa Lewis and Viola Mallory Avinger.  He was retired from the Ship Yard at Mobile Bay and was a Veteran of the United Marine Corps.  He was a member of the VFW Club 5228 in Phenix City and a former member of the Masonic Lodge.  He enjoyed karaoke, watching the Alabama Crimson Tide, and playing the lottery.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Edwin K. Avinger who loved and raised him as his own son, also preceded in death is a son, Cleveland Dale Lewis, and a sister, Keitha Gaines.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia “Patty” Rodgers Lewis of Phenix City, AL, children, Rev. Tammy Lewis of Mobile, AL, Stephanie Lewis of Mobile, AL, Mike Williams and wife Renee of Smiths Station, AL, and Courtney Allen of Mobile, AL, sisters, Laura Jackson and husband Cleve of Louisiana, and Julie Perez and husband Charles of Mobile, AL, two brothers, twin brother, Steven Lewis and wife Debra, and Lee Avinger and wife Debbie, both of Mobile, AL, grandchildren, Phillip, Shane, Amy, Emily, Steve, and Alyssa; a very special great granddaughter, Zoey and several other precious great grandchildren, and a host of extended family and many caring friends.  In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Mr. Lewis memorial fund in his memory.
